PRODUCT APPLICATION When applying Wood-Tux be sure to take necessary masking precautions. Protect all adjacent surfaces that are not to be stripped. Protect vegetation from direct over spray. Over spray could result in spotting of the leaves on some plants. If plants do spot, this will only effect existing foliage. New growth will not be effected. Apply product from bottom to top being careful to saturate the entire surface you intend to seal. The spread rate for Wood-Tux should be 200 square feet per gallon. Severely old and dry wood may require slightly more product. When staining a cedar home or log cabin, treat the bottom three courses of an entire wall then back brush to remove any drips or runs. Continue by treating the next three courses in this manner until you have reached the top of the wall. Wood-Tux is best applied by High Volume Low Pressure spray. You can also use a Brush, Roller, Pad, Mop or Rag application.
PRODUCT USAGE Surface preparation is the single most important factor in the life of any finish, we strongly recommend that Wood-Tux be applied by a qualified wood restoration professional. For best results always use Wood-Tux as instructed by the product label. Always perform a test patch to determine product suitability. Wood-Tux is designed for use on all exterior wood. To insure proper results and the ultimate protection for your wood, a qualified professional will go through the following steps:
Inspection: A qualified professional will check for loose or missing fasteners, signs of rot, infestation and other defects.
Pre-Treat: A chemical cleaner/stripper will be applied to the wood to re-emulsify any existing sealer and prepare the wood for cleaning.
Pressure Cleaning: After the wood has been pre-treated it will be washed with gentle pressure preparing the surface to be sealed.
Finishing: After your wood has been properly prepared, a generous single coat application of Wood-Tux should be applied a rate of approximately 200 square feet per gallon.
